Description

Josef and Eva Maria Bauer farm 17 hectares of vines in the Wagram region of Austria and produce this wine from 4.5 hectares of Gruner Veltliner planted in loess soils. The grapes are sorted in the vineyard before 80% of the fruit is left on the skins for 5 hours and the remainder ferments on the skins for 30 days in stainless steel on the lees before being blended back together and resting a further 4 months before bottling. Abundant citrus peel and herbs leap from the rim of the glass, leading to a palate of pithy grapefruit and clementine peel, stemmy thyme and green and red apple skin, lingering on a hit of white pepper and herbs.
